A.S. or higher degree in material science, chemistry or related field. (2+ years work experience is acceptable)
2+ years of practical experience in a Material Science laboratory is an advantage.
Working knowledge in safe chemical handling and PPE.
aKnowledge in laboratory method development, method validation and statistical analysis.
Responsibilities:
Polymer processing, Melt mixing, Calander, Hot Presses, heated ovens.
Good mechanical aptitude
Safe chemical handling and work in a chemical fume hood following best lab practices.
Familiar to solvent coating, extrusion, and spin coating techniques.
Willingness to quickly learn experimental methods and adapt to a changing work streams.
Able to train and quickly understand multiple mixing and process instruments like Hot Presses, Ovens, Thinky, Roll Mill, SilversonĀ® homogenizer, Sonic horn, Rotary evaporator , Blenders etc..
Thermal and mechanical testing utilizing multiple instruments TIM tester, Hot Disc, DSC, TGA, DMA, Durometer, Instron.
Fabrication of test sample to perform mechanical and thermal testing
Ability to work well with a team and reporting to Primary Investigator (PhD).
Good record keeping skills in electronic laboratory notebook
Strong chemical and mechanical background
Experience with Silicone chemistry and mechanical testing is a plus.
Familiarity with Word, Excel, Microsoft one drive, chem draw, Java and python
